The most recent shipment consisted of 1300 lbs of vitamin A, and multivitamins for children 1-5 and pregnant and lactating women that AIDSfreeAFRICA transported to Cameroon. A Belgium-based company which is part of US Johnson & Johnson, Tibotec produces several AIDS drugs and Miconazole an antifungal drug that treats oral thrush, a fungus infection of the mouth and esophagus. AIDSfreeAFRICA succeeded in renewing the drug license in Cameroon and to educate health care provider in it’s use, and introduced it into Laborex, one of Cameroon’s drug wholesales distribution companies.
Chemists Without Borders is a non-governmental organization involved in international development work designed to solve humanitarian problems through chemistry. Dr. Hodel has been serving on this board since its inception.
