Acknowledging our Donors

A special thank you to Gerlinde Bachmann and my mother, Erna Fischer, for their very generous contributions.
Thank you to all our friends and supporters for your monthly sponsorships and generous contributions.

Thank you to members of the board of directors, volunteers, interns and advisors for your time, energy, thoughts and support.

Thank you to all our friends, neighbors and coworkers for donating children’s items that will benefit children in Cameroon.

Thank you to my New York City Landmark Education Corporation community, especially the coaches of the Self Expression Leadership Program for getting me started and to keeping me going.

Thank you to the people of Cameroon. For three month I have been taken care of, doted around, meeting people in their homes, patient rooms, schools, in markets and pharmacies. I was generously educated and my questions were answered. I got statistics on HIV/AIDS in Cameroon, on women and children. I learned everything from government guidelines to the needs and wants of doctors and pharmacists. I have been invited to meetings, dinners, some sight seeing, and most interestingly to a Cry Die, which is a death celebration. I met members of the Lions Club and participated in hospital rounds and therapeutic meetings where doctors from the area hospitals discuss the treatment plans of their patients and decide on the most effective strategy to purse.
I visited small villages, ate local food, picked fresh fruit and even ate a fried grasshopper. Thank you for all the experiences.

Thank you to the women who told me about their lives and struggles and that of their children. 2/3 of HIV positive adults in Cameroon are women. Domestic violence is rampant. Wife inheritance and polygamy are not in the interest of women. Thank you for telling me that what you need is small loans that empower women to make a living. Having an income makes a world of a difference.

We since then started 3 women empowerment projects. The “Ann Higgins” hat crocheting group in Mbu, AIDSfreeAFRICA Fashion Center “AIDS FACE” a women’s sewing group within the Weh Women Management Common Initiative Group and ACTWIN KONGADZEM, a women’s organization supporting HIV positive and disabled women in Bamenda. AIDSfreeAFRICA provides seed money to start small enterprises to fry and sell fish, crochet hats, sell necklaces and more. Every group is required to pass on skills and reinvest part of the income into expanding the enterprise. These are brave women. We love to be part of your empowerment. We applaud your courage and stamina. Thank you for letting us be part of your struggle and to help you where we can.

We have added a private initiative and bought a US$4000 piece of land onto which a school for currently 230 pupils and doubling fast will be moved. We are seeking donations for this transaction. (see "Volunteers in Cameroon")
